A church for all - a place for you

St Andrew's is a lively and friendly congregation. The worship is relaxed, and people from different church traditions join us for worship.

Our beautiful old building is a medieval church, dating from the 13th century, and has a very intimate atmosphere. It's the only church in Norwich with a thatched roof. For most services, however, we use the new church extension - a lovely open and airy space, which seats around 220 people. The contrast between these settings enables us to accommodate worship to suit a wide variety of tastes.

Church Staff:

Phil Rodd became Vicar at St Andrew's in May 2008. He was born in south London and is married to Cathy. They have three children. He likes cycling, reading, gardening, languages and music, and he sings in a local choir. He's passionate about the Bible, and he loves meeting people.

Sheila Nunney is our Associate Minister, and leads the Pastoral Care Team.

Andrea Woods is our Children, Young People and Families' Worker.

Chris Smith and Alison Black are our Churchwardens.

James Mitchell is our regular Organist. Margaret Smith is the Music Director.

Sunday Worship at St Andrew's:

bullet 8 a.m. - Traditional service of Holy Communion, using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, in the beautiful calm atmosphere of our old building. This is a 45 minute service, with a short sermon but with no music.
bullet 10 a.m. - The first Sunday is an All Age Worship service and the third Sunday is Morning Worship. Services of Holy Communion take place on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month making creative use of the modern Common Worship service resources. There is preaching from the Bible, and the music is led by organ, piano and our flexible choir!
bullet 3-5 p.m. - Messy Church - 'A service with a creative edge'
Specially for families with children (of all ages) - a time for families to come together, to learn and worship through craft, music, prayer and eating together (with afternoon tea).

bullet 6.30 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month - an informal evening service, with contemporary worship music usually led by a small band, lively Bible-based teaching, time for prayer and time to listen to God.

Children's Activities:

bullet Our Sunday School groups, for children and young people aged 3-14 years, meet every Sunday during term time. The children and young people all start in church and then move to activities in St Andrew's church hall, next door to the church, except when there is a Family Service (on the first Sunday of the month) when all worship together in church.
